Father chases mobile internet connectivity for kids to write exams

Shillong, Sept 10 2020: Online examination in time of Coronavirus has taken students and teachers through uncharted waters. Today, a teacher traveling happened to bump into two of her students taking their exams in all place, on the side of a highway on the Assam-Meghalaya boundary near Mendima, Kharkutta block in East Garo hills.

The children's father, Branting T Sangma told the teacher that they were here chasing internet connectivity for their exams. There was no internet network in his village. Rongbu, about 7-15 kms from where they were standing. He said he had to drive them to this spot and and other locations where there is connectivity as a matter of routine these days.

The kids who were found diligently writing and tapping away amidst lush green paddy fields are Glausmy G Momin, Class IV and his sister Gensen G Momin, Class V, both students of Brookside Adventist Higher Secondary School, Shillong.
The school is undertaking its first ever online examinations for the students in its history and is probably the first school to be conducting its first term exams under an academic session overshadowed by Covid-19 global pandemic.
