As educational institutions struggle to keep facilities open to children in these times of the global Covid-19 pandemic, a city school, Brookside Adventist Higher Secondary School (BAHSS) in the city, is set to create another record by being the first school to complete the first online examinations.

If all goes as planned the declaration of results will be done by October 16. The first batch of results for classes Nursery to Class 4 was notified on October 9.

These are up on the school’s official website, which probably sets a record of sorts as the first instance of primary and nursery students seeing their results online.

Today, the results for Class 5 to 8 is scheduled for declaration. The Class 9 to 12 results are slated for October 16.

The unique feature is that everything has been done online, including holding classes, exams, corrections of the online answer scripts and assignments and now online declaration of the results with downloadable mark sheets.

Speaking to Highland Post, the vice principal of BAHSS, Z Chhakchhuak, said, “2020 has impacted schools and the educational system in ways that was beyond our imagination, but many schools sailed through in this adversity and acclimatized to the ongoing situation for the benefit of the children.”

She said that the online classes are a new working scenario for both teachers and students.

She said that the functionality of the website is commendable because the first term online examination and online evaluation of answers scripts has been successfully completed and, for the very first time, for the results will be declared on the official school portal with the utmost surveillance for any breach in security or privacy.

BAHSS management said that the boon of having an official school portal is that the school has been able to function and connect with all students wherever they are and thus will be able to complete the full academic session successfully.

The website is the brainchild of two new web developers, Justify Born Shadap and Balajied Marbaniang. These two dynamos are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in computer science and engineering.
